Ideal for Exotic Hardwoods including Ipe, Batu, Bangkirai, Cumaru, Torem, Tigerwood, and Mahogany, as well as versatile softwoods like Cedar, Douglas Fir, Hemlock, Alaska Yellow Cedar, and Redwood. Our advanced rainscreen clips are perfectly compatible with Thermally Modified Lumber options, such as Nova’s Ambara™.

Crafting the Ideal Concealed Fastener

The nature of wood siding means it will naturally expand and shrink across the boards due to seasonal humidity variations specific to each area.

Our uniquely developed ExoClad Rainscreen QuickClip is engineered to accommodate the inherent expansion and contraction of wood board widths post-installation. This clip is designed with the optimal balance of rigidity to maintain precise spacing during setup, while also offering the flexibility needed to accommodate up to 1/8″ of wood width expansion.

Given that standard siding planks may expand by as much as 1/8” in width, we engineered the ExoClad Rainscreen QuickClip with a unique capability to compress under significant pressure, effectively accommodating this swelling. As the wood subsequently contracts upon drying, the clip’s built-in spring mechanism activates, gently repositioning the planks back to their ideal alignment, ensuring they are securely and precisely attached to the structure’s side.

Innovative Patent: The Sole Adaptable & Durable Fastener on the Market

Nova’s distinctive design addresses a common challenge faced by tropical hardwood siding boards: fluctuating moisture levels due to seasonal temperature and humidity shifts. Prompted by field reports of unsuccessful hardwood rainscreen setups, we analyzed current fastening solutions and discovered the feasibility of a fastener that not only maintains the essential 3/4″ ventilation gap behind the panels but also accommodates the boards’ movement in response to humidity variations. It’s nearly impossible to halt the expansion when wood absorbs moisture and swells.
